Successive home defeats by Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea are being followed by this game, then Dortmund and Manchester United away - and on current form you can throw in Southampton at home before November is out. For the moment, Arsene Wenger remains relatively unconcerned, but three home losses in a row for the first time in 11 years could cause an extra worry line or two.
In purely Premier League terms of course, The Gunners are in rude health - top of the table with seven wins and a draw since the opening day. If you can establish who the title challengers are after ten games then Arsenal are among them.
To those who think the squad lacks depth, I would point to the fact that they've done this well this far without (for much of the run) Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolski, Cazorla and Arteta.
If defence is the weak spot, Liverpool are currently THE team to highlight it. As the debate rages as to whether Rooney and van Persie or Suarez and Sturridge is the best strike partnership around, here are some numbers to help:
Rooney/van Persie: six games started together this season; eight goals
Suarez/Sturridge - five games started together; 10 goals
Crude and unscientific maybe, but I go with the stats on this and think the Liverpool pair is the most dangerous around right now.
They'll undoubtedly be on the minds of Messrs Mertesacker and Koscielny ahead of the game, especially as the Arsenal defence will be missing its invaluable shield of Mathieu Flamini. That could be key. Both sides have suffered just one league defeat since March. By pure coincidence I was there to see both those games! I promise to leave my jinx jacket at home this time - and go for a draw.
