Storyline:
A retired spy is called back into action, and to bond with her new step-children, she invites them along for the adventure to stop the evil Timekeeper from taking over the world.

Synopsis:
On the surface, Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) has it all...married to a famous spy hunting television reporter, a new baby and intelligent twin step kids. But in reality, trying to mother Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook), who clearly don’t want her around, is her toughest challenge yet. Also, her husband, Wilbur (Joel McHale), wouldn’t know a spy if he lived with one which is exactly the case - Marissa’s a retired secret agent.
Marissa’s world is turned upside down when the maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the planet and she’s called back into action by the head of OSS, home of the greatest spies and where the now-defunct Spy Kids division was created. With Armageddon quickly approaching, Rebecca and Cecil are thrust into action when they learn their boring stepmom was once a top agent and now the world’s most competitive ten year olds are forced to put their bickering aside and rely on their wits. With a little help from a couple of very familiar Spy Kids, Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara), and some mind-blowing gadgets, they just may be able to save the world and possibly bring their family together while they’re at it.

Movie Review:
Possibly the worst movie of all time!,
21 August 2011 by wgrima1
This movie is not only the worst movie of the summer, it could possibly be the worst movie I have ever seen. I took my two boys aged 7 and 4 to watch this sorry excuse for a movie. The boys actually were fairly entertained, but I must say they are not exactly seasoned veterans of the movie watching experience.
We saw it in 2D but also had the '4th D' experience. This amounted to a card they gave you that you scratch and sniff at certain points during the movie. It is a horrible gimmick that does not even work. I scratched as hard as I could and could only smell a faint flowery smell. That is only one minor flaw of the movie.
The other flaws are as follow. The acting is horrendous. How they continue to let Jessica Alba act and even STAR in a movie is a decision that some Hollywood exec will eventually pay for with their job. Her lack of acting abilities were only surpassed by the rest of the cast. But it was not entirely their fault as the film's basic plot and script was about as thin as Kate Moss on a hunger strike.
So what do you combine with horrible acting, a thin plot and countless moronic lines written by the worst screen writers they could dig up? Mindless violence that is not suitable for small children. This movie is supposed to be about spy kids I presumed, based on the title. Most of the scenes and actions were played out by adults and the plethora of punching and kicking scenes was immature and detrimental to young, easily influenced minds.
This movie is disturbing for young children and is completely inappropriate for children of all ages. It also is so horribly acted and the screenplay so ill-conceived that adults are left wondering how in the world Hollywood can continue to put out such dribble and expect us to shell out our hard earned dollars on such mindless 'entertainment.'
To sum it all up, avoid this movie at all costs. Even if your children have seen the other versions and beg you to see it be strong and suggest alternatives. Show Hollywood that you will not be swayed by their slick advertising and inept film-making.

Born and Bred is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the lives of a new generation of young boxers fighting for their place in the American boxing capital of Los Angeles.

Movie Plot Summary:
Born and Bred is a feature-length documentary film chronicling the lives of a new generation of young boxers fighting for their place in the American boxing capital of Los Angeles, where Latino immigration is surging to a historical breaking point. At the heart of the film is the story of 15-year-old twin brothers in their last two years in the tough ranks of amateur boxing where boys are made into men and Olympic dreams are won and lost. Shot over the course of four years, the film offers an inside look at the gritty boxing culture of East Los Angeles where there are more boxers than anywhere else in the country. The documentary is driven by the story of twin brothers Oscar and Javier Molina and their intense relationship with lifelong trainer, Robert Luna. The movie documents their last years fighting as kids and their entry in the men's division of the sport as they clash with seasoned boxers...

Movie Review:
By JEANNETTE CATSOULIS
Published: August 18, 2011
Beginning in late 2005 and filming over four years, the director, Justin Frimmer, immerses himself in this quintessential blue-collar sport and the lives of his striving subjects. For the shy 15-year-old Molina twins, the nerve-racking transition to the adult division means squaring off against fighters more than twice their age. But for the cocky 12-year-old Victor Pasillas — who hasn’t lost a fight in three years — defeat is not an option.
“That little lad don’t know fear,” marvels his proud coach, Rodrigo Mosquera, whose bond with this pugnacious youngster eases more personal disappointments. Delving into hair-raising family histories (the Molina boys’ mother entered the United States from Mexico in the engine compartment of a pickup truck) and a boxing tradition that in many cases spans generations, Mr. Frimmer highlights a culture of sport as safety net, offering a haven for vulnerable kids and peace of mind for their parents.
Hobbled by a filming style as raw as the talent on screen, Mr. Frimmer records the twins’ pray-and-pummel progress through Olympic-qualifying tournaments and crises of confidence. The fights are unexciting and the brothers uncharismatic, yet the film finds a soft, soulful center in their relationship with Robert Luna, a former Army Ranger and their longtime trainer.
Philosopher, counselor, mentor and strategist, Mr. Luna believes that the lessons learned inside the ring form the foundation for a happy life outside. Around him a sea of scrawny hopefuls, T-shirts bloodied and cheeks bulging with ill-fitting mouth guards, seem determined to prove him right.

Hollywood Movie The Carrier 2011 Watch Online Trailer Review Cast And Crew

Storyline:
"The Carrier" tells the story of a grieving mother dealing with the loss of her philandering son. She discovers a secret that will profoundly influence her life, the lives around her, and ultimately a new understanding of her son.

Movie Plot Summary:
'The Carrier' is a feature-length documentary that tells the inspiring story of an HIV-positive and pregnant mother trying to protect her baby from being born with HIV/AIDS. The film follows a Zambian subsistence farmer named Mutinta who is part of a polygamous marriage where everyone is HIV-positive. With the dangerously high mortality rates for HIV-positive babies on her mind, Mutinta enrolls in an innovative public health program called Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT).

Movie Info:
Sober bordering on funereal, "The Carrier" is a painterly, poetic docu about a polygamous family in Zambia; the parents are HIV-positive, the women are pregnant and the situation is so dysfunctional that childbirth is a mixed blessing at best. It's hard to suggest what else helmer Maggie Betts might have done with a subject she clearly cares about. But the movie's unceasingly morbid tone is unlikely to get it much play, ill serving its attempts to raise awareness about Africa's AIDS crisis and ways to prevent infant HIV.
Using a surfeit of portraiture and a score too melodramatic for the film's overall aesthetic, Betts tells the story of Mutinta Mweemba, the second of the three wives of Abarcon Mweemba, a farmer in the village of Keemba and an easy villain. His wives -- who include Brenda, the first to die, and Matildah, the last to get tested -- do the work; Abarcon struts while sitting down. The family's a lost cause, so any dramatic tension is provided by the fate of Mutinta's unborn child, a reveal dragged out to the point of absurdity.

Hollywood Movie Shut Up Little Man 2011 Watch Online Trailer Review Cast And Crew

Storyline:
When two friends tape-recorded the fights of their violently noisy neighbors, they accidentally created one of the world's first 'viral' pop-culture sensations.

Movie Plot Summary:
The Shut Up Little Man recordings feature the real-life comical rants, hateful harangues, drunken soliloquies, and audible fistfights of Raymond and Peter – two booze-swilling homicidal roommates in a low-rent district of San Francisco. These infamous recordings were made by their much-menaced next door neighbors, Eddie Lee and Mitchell D. The dialogs of Raymond and Peter have been widely championed for their poignant absurdity and stark hilarity. Profiles have appeared in Spin (This epic documentary is as disturbing as it is hilarious), Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair(grimly fascinating), The LA Times, The Washington Post(hilarious, but profoundly disturbing), Playboy, The Wireand on Ira Glass's radio program This American Life. Sarah Vowell, the essayist and cultural commentator, included a segment about Shut Up Little Man in her book Radio On, calling it some of the strangest bickering I've ever heard.
The recordings have inspired comic illustrations by Daniel Clowes (Ghost World) and Ivan Brunetti (Schizo), animation features by Kevin Peaty (principle animator of The Lion King and other Disney classics), numerous songs (e.g. Devo's Shut Up Little Man and Nirvana's Dough, Ray, and Me), theatrical plays, and film shorts. Shut Up Little Man is widely considered to be a classic of the audio verite and field recording genres, and the recordings continue to inspire shock, laughter, and amazement at the raw humanity and dark comedy contained therein.

Funny, profane doc is enjoyable,
5 August 2011

I saw this documentary at the Traverse City (MI) Film Festival. Two Midwestern college grads move to California in 1987, only to find that their new apartment has a pair of profane, arguing drunks living next door. After being awakened repeatedly by their new neighbors' rants, the guys start audio taping the fights. Eventually they collect dozens of hours of material, share bits with their friends, and an underground sensation begins. Tapes, comic strips, a play, and even a puppet show depicting Peter and Ray, the fighting neighbors, emerged throughout the 90's. At one point 3 competing movie productions were planning films about the couple.
The first 30 minutes or so of the doc sets up the scenario and lays the background to the story. It is this part, when we are first introduced to the vulgar fighting couple, where the movie is at its best. Unfortunately the film can't sustain the humor and energy from the first third of the film, as we follow the legal battle to determine who has the rights to the recordings. The film ends with the college guys returning to the scene of their recordings, 20+ years later, and investigating what has happened to their old neighbors. Still, I found the story engrossing and interesting enough to sustain my attention through the second half of the film. The movie is entertaining, but if you're easily offended by profanity look elsewhere!

Hollywood Movie The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 2011 Watch Online Trailer Review Cast And Crew

Storyline:
Footage shot by a group of Swedish journalists documenting the Black Power Movement in the United States is edited together by a contemporary Swedish filmmaker.

Movie Plot Summary:
The Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 mobilizes a treasure trove of 16mm material shot by Swedish journalists who came to the US drawn by stories of urban unrest and revolution. Gaining access to many of the leaders of the Black Power Movement—Stokely Carmichael, Bobby Seale, Angela Davis and Eldridge Cleaver among them—the filmmakers captured them in intimate moments and remarkably unguarded interviews. Thirty years later, this lush collection was found languishing in the basement of Swedish Television. Director Göran Olsson and co-producer Danny Glover bring this footage to light in a mosaic of images, music and narration chronicling the evolution one of our nation's most indelible turning points, the Black Power movement. Music by Questlove and Om'Mas Keith, and commentary from prominent African- American artists and activists who were influenced by the struggle -- including Erykah Badu, Harry Belafonte, Talib Kweli, and Melvin Van Peebles -- give the historical footage a fresh, contemporary resonance and makes the film an exhilarating, unprecedented account of an American revolution.

This era has since long legendary status, not just in American history, but all over the world. It seems like a saga now; this radicalism, this possibility of seeing even socialism as a possible alternative in the US. It was not just about race issues, it was also about the economic and political system.
During these years, Swedish television many times went over to the States, interviewing black radical leaders. We meet Stokely Carmichael, Eldridge Cleaver and in a very unique sequence also Angela Davis in prison. Most of it takes place after the backlash in the late 60s. The movement was deradicalised and we meet the fighters talking about big changes, but you have the feeling that they've lost most of their faith in it. It's a big difference compared to the attitude of Stokely Carmichael during his Stockholm visit in 1967.
Very interesting material, but you miss the analysis. Why was the movement deradicalised? It was not just because of police brutality during riots or supposed FBI actions. And you don't get any explanation about why the movement and other powers had success when it came to reducing racism. There's anyway another USA today, compared to what it was in 1967.

Hollywood Movie Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star 2011 Watch Online Trailer Review Cast And Crew

Storyline:
A kid from the Midwest moves out to Hollywood in order to follow in his parents footsteps -- and become a porn star.

Movie Plot Summary:
Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star is a new comedy starring Nick Swardson, Christina Ricci, Don Johnson, and Stephen Dorff. Bucky (Swardson) is a small town grocery bagger, going nowhere in life – until he discovers that his conservative parents were once adult film stars! Armed with the belief that he has found his destiny, Bucky packs up and heads out to LA, hoping to follow in his parents’ footsteps.

Movie Review:
pre-screener viewing,
9 September 2009
by evilsalmon
The film was screened for a group last night and I have to say it wasn't bad. It wasn't particularly brilliant, but porn jokes rarely are. Bucky Larson, born in the middle of nowhere Idaho, loses his job and on the very same night discovers that his parents were once very famous porn stars. He decides it's his destiny to go out to LA and follow in their footsteps. Being an extremely buck-toothed, stereotypically small town boy, Bucky gets rejected and taken advantage of almost immediately. He's aided in his quest by Kathy, a waitress from New Jersey with her own unfulfilled dreams, and Miles Deep, a now washed up pornography director.
The story settles into your typical romantic-comedy storyline once the porno jokes have been established, and it ends well. Some recurring jokes feel a little disjointed, and the opening scenes in Iowa were, imo, forced and more upsetting than funny. These things may and may not get ironed out in post-production. On the whole though, I would give the movie three stars. Solid effort, but not something anyone's going to be running out desperately to see opening weekend.

Movie Plot Summary:
Two brothers face the fight of a lifetime – and the wreckage of their broken family – within the brutal, high-stakes world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighting in Lionsgate's action/drama, Warrior.

As Tommy blazes a violent path towards the title prize, his brother, Brendan, a former MMA fighter unable to make ends meet as a public school teacher, returns to the amateur ring to provide for his family. Even though years have passed, recriminations and past betrayals keep Brendan bitterly estranged from both Tommy and his father.
But when Brendan's unlikely rise as an underdog sets him on a collision course with Tommy, the two brothers must finally confront the forces that tore them apart, all the while waging the most intense, winner-takes-all battle of their lives.

Emotions on par with The Fighter, one of the top combat sport movies since Rocky, one of the best of 2011,
31 July 2011
by Stephen Cook
Every so often you'll come across a combat sport movie that manages to find just the right balance of drama and action – that is, more drama than action. When fights are justified with backstories full of crushing emotion, they become all the more intense and gratifying.
Warrior brings to the table the world of mixed martial arts, where punches, kicks, holds, and everything else goes. The inception of new international tournament "Sparta" puts on a collision course Paddy (Nick Nolte), Brendan (Joel Edgerton), and Tom Conlon (Tom Hardy), all part of an estranged family torn apart in the past by abuse, favoritism, and abandonment. Tom resurfaces in society to enlist the help of his formerly alcoholic father Paddy to train him for the tournament, while at the same time Brendan revisits his UFC training in hopes to win the $5 million purse for his struggling family. The two underdogs face some of the toughest MMA fighters on the planet, but the true struggle appears to lie within them. Paddy battles for forgiveness against the resentment of his sons, Tom fights to prove to himself that he is strong, and Brendan struggles to come to terms with his older family while trying to support one of his own.
The fantastic thing here is two protagonists entering the same tournament. Each brother has his own respectable reasons for fighting, a fact that is sure to divide the audience when it comes time to choose which one to root for. The story truly is gut-wrenchingly powerful and presented in an engaging fashion. Little by little through the film's dialogue, we are allowed a glimpse into the past hardships of the Conlon family, and the characters' motivations for retaining such hatred are revealed gradually. Through the incredible acting talents of Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, and Nick Nolte, this confused and passionate chemistry really comes alive. All three actors put up some of the most convincing and heartbreaking performances of their careers; and seeing as how The Fighter garnered so many Oscar nominations, I can't see why Warrior will not do the same. My only beef with the movie is its clichéd climax and rather bleak inconclusive ending, though it still does good to the emotional schism the movie intended to create.
Warrior is one of those sports films with a magical mixture of emotional and physical battle. It's a wonderful story showing how sometimes the world's strongest forces are insignificant in comparison to the troubles of a scarred family. Warrior is without a doubt worth a visit to the theater. One of the best of 2011! And whether you're an MMA fan or not, the adrenaline-pumping fights will have you up and cheering and applauding.

I saw this movie last week in México City and let me tell you it reminds me the fun I had when I first saw "Raiders of the lost ark" as a kid. Of course there are echoes of this classic and many other films in this even so original film. I mean, you are traveling trough many of your favorite films at the same time you are watching a very peculiar one, a very different one, as if Pedro Infante was directed by Spielberg or if Tin Tán and Mauricio Garcés made a movie with Sergio Leone. Nice trip, fun and adventure, a story that travels in time and around the world, with colorful characters and situations, and a very own Mexican look and depth in the portrayal of family, friendship, loyalty and sacrifice. In that way, the final song by Chavela Vargas is quite touching and epic. Mission accomplished.

Hollywood Movie A Good Old Fashioned Orgy 2011 Watch Online Trailer Review Cast And Crew

Storyline:
The story centers on a 30-year-old (Sudeikis) who is forced to grow up when his father decides to sell the family vacation home in the Hamptons, bringing an end to his tradition of throwing elaborate summer theme parties. Wanting to go out with a bang, he enlists his friends to throw one final party -- an orgy.

Movie Info:
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy is a 2011 ensemble-comedy film written and directed by Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck. It stars Jason Sudeikis, Leslie Bibb, Lake Bell, Michelle Borth, Nick Kroll, Tyler Labine, Lindsay Sloane, Lucy Punch, and Will Forte. The main plot follows Eric (Sudeikis) who, having thrown parties at his father's house for years, decides to have one last party when the house is to be sold; an orgy.
The world premiere of A Good Old Fashioned Orgy was held at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City on April 29, 2011. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on September 2, 2011. Early critical reception to the film has been positive with reviewers citing smart dialog and the performance of Labine as highlights.

Movie Review:

by Jackpollins
A Good Old Fashioned Orgy stars Jason Sudekis as Eric, a 30-something loser who's never quite grown up. Him and his buddies, including Duquez (Martin Starr), Adam (Nick Kroll), McCudden (Tyler Labine), Willow (Angela Sarafyan) and Alison (Lake Bell) among others find out that Eric's dad is selling the beach house in which all of their ludicrous parties take place. When Eric figures this out, he wants to throw a final labor day bash, a party so ridiculous that it will make all their other parties look mellow. So Eric and McCudden decide to have an orgy with them and their closest friends. This plot is about as raunchy of a plot as you can get, and I am glad to be sitting here telling you that A Good Old Fashioned Orgy delivers on this premise. With so many comedies this year like Bad Teacher and Hall Pass really holding back the raunchiness and trying to play it safe, it's refreshing to see a film that just goes for it. This film isn't as raunchy as some might expect from its title, but it's pretty damn raunchy, as well as daring, funny, likable, and even a bit touching. Everyone in the cast, from Sudekis to Starr to Bell to Sarafyan to Labine is hilarious, and there's not a bad character in the film. Will Forte and Lucy Punch play newlyweds with a kid who the group decides not to invite to the orgy, and they're great as well. Now, while this film is probably the funniest film of the year so far, it's pretty predictable. That's my only VERY minor complaint with the film. Overall, if you like any of these cast members and you like your comedies raunchy and daring, then go check out A Good Old Fashioned Orgy.
