MATCH PREVIEW
This is a "Signpost Sunday" derby. Arsenal's recovery from their opening-day defeat by Aston Villa will only be rubber-stamped by a 12th home league win in 15 meetings with their foes. Victory followed by a couple of major signings will bode well for the future. Defeat and the Gunners will be another lurch away from crisis.
LAWRO'S PREDICTION
Image of Mark Lawrenson Mark Lawrenson Football analyst
"The north London derby is always explosive and to add to it this year is the fact that it's been like chalk and cheese between these two rivals when it comes to the transfer market this summer.
"Arsenal don't appear to have any form of transfer policy. What have they been doing for the past three months?"
Read Lawro's full prediction and score
Tottenham's bold start to the campaign would be seriously undermined by a third defeat on the spin at the Emirates. But a second away league triumph at Arsenal since 1993 should see Spurs regarded as genuine early season title challengers.
Arsenal have thumped in five goals in each of the last two home north London derbies. But the search goes on for a star striker, in Olivier Giroud, Theo Walcott and the injured Lukas Podolski they have three players capable of 20 goals a season.
Although Tottenham are looking for a fourth league clean sheet on the spin for the first time since 2010, Arsenal have the pace and power to net against them. They've also had a day extra to prepare.
But at the other end a boy raised on derby matches between Corinthians, Sao Paulo and Palmeiras could have a major say. Paulinho has made a terrific start in Spurs' new team of giants.
Physically they are now a match for anyone. Only Eden Hazard has created more chances than Nacer Chadli so far, while Etienne Capoue is a colossus in front of the back four. He allows Mousa Dembele the freedom to play-make and Paulinho the liberty to bomb forward behind Roberto Soldado.
I can see Capoue handling the forward runs of the creative Arsenal midfielders, although his rash tackling and temperament need to be curbed or we will see a third Spurs player sent off in three years in this fixture. But I can't see which Arsenal player will shackle Paulinho.
No Premier League fixture has thrown up more goals than this one. There hasn't been a goalless draw at Arsenal between the two in 15 years. I can see them sharing four more. This Sunday's "signpost" may not reveal too much about the long term. It'll be too fierce and frantic.
MATCH FACTS
Head-to-head
The previous six meetings have yielded a total of 31 goals - including 5-2 wins for Arsenal in the previous two matches at the Emirates.
Spurs' 3-2 win at the Emirates in November 2010 is their only victory away to Arsenal since the inaugural Premier League season in 1992-93.
Arsenal
The Gunners have won just one of their last four home league games (W1, D2, L1), yet have won their last six top-flight matches on the road.
All 13 of Olivier Giroud's Premier League goals have been scored in London, with 11 netted at the Emirates.
Victory at Fulham last weekend gave Arsenal their 100th London derby win in the Premier League.
The Gunners have not lost their opening two home league games since 1949-50, when they were defeated by Burnley and Chelsea at Highbury.
Tottenham Hotspur
Roberto Soldado has scored 12 goals in his last 10 league appearances.
If the Spaniard scores on Sunday he will become only the second player to score in their first three Premier League appearances for Spurs, following in the footsteps of Jermain Defoe.
Spurs have attempted 39 shots in this season's Premier League but have yet to score from open play.
They have started the season with back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since 2005-06, when they recorded shut-outs in their opening three matches.

Swansea trio Ashley Williams, Wilfried Bony and Jonjo Shelvey are expected to play despite missing the midweek trip to Romania with minor knocks.
Nathan Dyer (hamstring) and Neil Taylor (thigh) are still sidelined.
MATCH PREVIEW
It is obviously very early days but two of last season's over-achievers will be disappointed by their start which sees them at the wrong end of the table.
West Bromwich Albion's problem seems pretty clear - they cannot score goals as illustrated against Everton and Southampton. The loss of Romelu Lukaku, who weighed in with 17 Premier league goals on loan from Chelsea last season, is already painfully obvious.
But the big Belgian isn't coming back despite Albion's attempts, so Steve Clarke has to look elsewhere.
The Baggies boss hopes to bring in two strikers before the transfer window shuts but in the meantime, the return of Nicolas Anelka from compassionate leave is timely.
So too was the startling performance of 20-year-old Saido Berahino, who scored a hat-trick on his full debut in Tuesday's 3-0 League Cup win over Newport County.
And then there is Scott Sinclair, who has arrived on loan from Manchester City, where injuries limited his impact after making his name at Swansea City with 22 goals in their promotion season. This could be his script to write.
When he left the Liberty Stadium two games into last season, Swansea were top of the pile. They had crushed QPR and West Ham, scoring eight goals in the process.
Michael Laudrup did not get carried away then and he is not likely to now after defeats to Manchester United and Tottenham left his side bottom. He knows their season will not hinge on results against the big-boys but results at places like the Hawthorns.
The ramifications of Swansea's European commitments could be crucial as the domestic campaign gathers pace. The Swans succeeded in their first target of reaching the group phase of the Europa League despite Thursday's away defeat to Petrolul Ploiesti, but how jaded will their players be after a 2,500 mile round-trip to Romania?
And how will Laudrup's squad cope with six more Thursday night engagements over a 12-week period? Sunday at the Hawthorns should provide a clue as West Brom look to capitalise on any tiredness.

MATCH PREVIEW
As Liverpool celebrate the birth of Bill Shankly - 100 years ago on Monday - the current Liverpool boss can enjoy the feeling of kicking off against a Manchester United team who are below them in the fledgling Premier League table.
Not that Brendan Rodgers would have enjoyed the tortuous passage past Notts County in the League Cup second round which has left him with a few injury conundrums; nor would he would have been grinning from ear-to-ear at the third draw which followed - Manchester United away.
However, Liverpool's start to the season has been impressive enough to suggest that they have a real chance of improving on a record of just one win over United in the last seven league meetings.
Daniel Sturridge, who turns 24 on Sunday, scored his first league goal for Liverpool at Old Trafford last season and has barely stopped scoring since - 15 in 19 appearances so far; if he's shifted out of position or even out of the team by a returning Luis Suarez next month you can expect Sturridge to be unhappy.
United's game against Chelsea on Monday may have been as serene and lifeless as the ship canal on a still summer's day, but this will be a tempest in comparison.
Defeat would be unpalatable, and with the game at Manchester City coming soon, it would leave David Moyes with little wriggle room as he accustoms himself to the contours of Sir Alex's shoes.
Home fans will know that Moyes has never won at Anfield - away fans will reflect that he's never been there with United. Both managers might reflect that getting a draw would not be the worst day's work they have ever done.
They both may also feel that the chance to forget about agents, deals and the transfer deadline for 90 minutes is more than welcome. With 11pm on Monday looming, that respite will not last…
