UTV Motion Pictures has bagged the theatrical and satellite rights of Cheran's Muran. But the price paid for the movie has not been disclosed yet.
Sources say that the bosses of UTV Motion Pictures, who have shown interest in regional films of late, were impressed by the storyline of the film. Thus they have acquired the rights, says a source. It may be recalled that the company has recently acquired the distribution rights of Selvaraghavan's Erandam Ulagam.
Muran is directed by a newcomer and a former assistant of Mysskin, Rajjan Madhav. It features Cheran, Prasanna, Nikitha Thukral and Haripriya in the leads. The movie is expected to hit the screens in September.

Thambi Vettothi Sundaram, starring Karan and directed by V.C. Vadivudayan, has created much hype and sensation before hitting screens itself. The reason is that the story is based on a real-life incident which took place in Kanyakumari district. The sensational news is that on Tuesday a gang of unknown persons attacked the film's crew while they were shooting in Kulasekaram and threatened them asking to stop the making as would bring a bad name to Kanyakumari district.

In contrast with the soft romantic roles played in his first two films, now all set for Shanthanu Bhagyaraj to create an image as a performing star. With his upcoming flick Aayiram Vilakku, he has become a mass hero and playing a Madurai-based don role for the first time in his career. The movie is directed by Hosimin of February 14 fame. The story is all about a gangster. Sathyaraj plays an aging gangster who meets an ordinary coolie (Shanthanu) and trains him to be the next big ganglord to take revenge on his enemies. Shanthanu will dance to the tunes of Srikanth Deva. Suman plays the villain role and Sana Khan plays the lady love role in the movie.
The music of Aayiram Vilakku was launched yesterday in a grand way at Sathyam Cinemas. Abirami Narayanan, Vairamuthu, Kalaipuli Thanu, R. Madhesh, Jeyam Raja, Srikanth Deva, Nakul, Sibi, Parthiban and Ashok graced the event. Director Sargunam who gave blockbuster hit 'Kalavani' in the past with Vimal has again roped in the same hero in his upcoming venture 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa'
Speaking to the media director Sargunam said that the shooting of 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa' has been canned in Aruppukottai and a huge set costing Rs.1 Crore has been set here which is based on the backdrop of 1966.
The director assures that this movie would be a different script when compared to his previous venture Kalavani and assures that the movie buffs would really enjoying watching the flick on the silver screen.
The Musical tracks of Vaagai Sooda Vaaa has been composed by Gibran, who happens to be a close friend of the director Sargunam and lyrics are penned by Vairamuthu. The makers of this flick are planning to release the flick in August

The Story:

The film revolves around a group of passengers traveling in two different buses, each having their own past and a reason for their travel. Actor Salman Khan, who was to co-anchor the reality show Bigg Boss 5 with actor Sanjay Dutt, may not be able to make it to the show. The Bollywood star has already delayed his upcoming movie Ek Tha Tiger over the surgery for his nerve disorder. Now, the speculation is that his heath issue may not allow him to attend the shooting of the show.

According to sources, the bosses of the TV channel Colors have roped in two star hosts and they want them to be present every week to attract viewers with their own inimitable styles. But sources claim that it looks difficult for ailing Salman Khan to attend the shooting every week. “It will prove extremely hectic as he has to continuously keep on talking being the host," a source tells the Mid-Day.
It should be recalled here that Salman Khan, who hosted the last season, had to quit his birthday celebration in Dubai midway for the shooting of the show. Now, channel sources say that the actor has not yet asked for any changes in the shooting schedule. However, the show Bigg Boss 5 is expected to be more appealing.
