The last team to check into the Pit Stop usually is eliminated, but sometimes there is a non-elimination leg in which no one is eliminated. After all teams are eliminated except for 3, these three race to the finish line where the winning team wins 1 million dollars.

The Amazing Race 19 is the nineteenth installment of the reality television show The Amazing Race. The Amazing Race 19 features several teams of two, each with a pre-existing relationship, in a race around the world. The 19th season premiered on September 25, 2011. This season of the Race traveled 40,000 miles (64,000 km) across 20 cities and four continents. Filming started on June 18, 2011, with teams seen leaving Los Angeles International Airport and heading to Taiwan. As with the previous season, the starting line, which was located at the Hsi Lai Temple in the foothills of Hacienda Heights, California, had a unique task that the Racers had to perform before receiving tickets to their first destination. American film crews were also spotted in Hillerød, Denmark, and were suspected to be for The Amazing Race; marking the first time the Race has visited Denmark. Along with Denmark, this season will mark other first time visits to Malawi, Belgium, and Indonesia. Two new game elements were introduced in this season. Leg 1 introduced the "Hazard," a penalty one team will incur for being the last team to finish the starting-line task. According to Keoghan, the Hazard was added to "test people's mental strength out of the gate", and claims that it has a "rolling effect" throughout the rest of the Race. Leg 2 will be the first in which two teams will be eliminated at the Pit Stop (in Season 10, two teams were eliminated during the first leg, but not both at the Pit Stop).
Storyline:
The best of the reality series crop is back, with 12 teams of 2 players each racing around the world, trying not to be eliminated at a series of checkpoints in which the last team to arrive is booted from the show. CBS chooses teams with relationships containing at least some tension, especially when the situation involves intense pressure. This season includes such duos as two circus clowns, a gay married couple, a father and son, a recently engaged couple, married couples, and best friends.
