NCIS: Los Angeles is the first spin-off of NCIS, which itself was a spinoff of another CBS series, JAG. On October 7, 2009, CBS gave the series a full-season pickup, extending the first season to 22 episodes. The season was extended again on November 4, 2009, when CBS announced its order for an additional two episodes. The second season began airing on September 21, 2010. Storyline:
The Naval Criminal Investigation Service's Office of Special Projects takes on the undercover work and the hard to crack cases in LA. Key agents are G. Callen and Sam Hanna, streets kids risen through the ranks. Special Agent Kensi Blye, a forensic sleuth and unbeatable undercover operator rounds out the team of Agents. LAPD Detective Marty Deeks is a liaison officer that partners with Blye and is quickly picking up her undercover wits. Eric Beal's computer wizardry is invaluable, he works with Nell Jones, an intelligence analyst to whom Hetty quickly took a liking to, and far from HQ, the veteran chief has a freer hand than even the Director himself.
