Actor Akshay Kumar, who is set to release Breakaway aka Speedy Singhs, will donate Rs 2 crores to the Ice Hockey Association Of India (IHAOI). His home production is based on the sport of ice hockey. In a bid to promote the film, the Bollywood star has come forward to encourage the sport in the country.

According to reports, Speedy Singhs producers Akshay Kumar and Paul Gross have decided to donate the amount of Rs 2 crore to the IHAOI in New Delhi, which is the national body coordinating ice hockey in India under the supervision of the International Ice Hockey Federation. The makers of the film hope that this amount would surely encourage the sport of ice hockey in India.
However, Speedy Singhs is a Hollywood movie, which is directed by Robert Lieberman and co-produced by Akshay Kumar's home production Hari Om Production. It is an action packed, dhamakedar Punjabi movie, set amongst the Indo-Canadian community in suburban Toronto, Canada. The film stars Vinay Virmani, Al Mulkadam, Camilla Belle, Anupam Kher and Russell Peters.
Speedy Singhs revolves around Rajveer Singh, who is raised in an orthodox Sikh family. He has only one goal to succeed in the traditional white man's sport of Ice Hockey. Conflict arises when his strict Punjabi father pushes him to be a true Punjab da puttar and devote his life to Waheguru and their family business. The film is slated to release on September 23.
