Hibs welcome back Rowan Vine and Jordon Forster for the trip to Tynecastle while Ryan McGivern should be fit following a thigh strain.

But defenders James McPake, Tim Clancy and Bradley Donaldson and midfielders Alex Harris and Paul Cairney are missing for the visitors.

Hearts goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald: "We want to stay in this league and we are confident that if we can get a few wins we will put pressure on other teams and we will start to climb the table.

"We need to start winning games now and there would be nothing better than starting [against Hibernian].

"It is a mammoth task, especially for a young squad, many of whom will be playing their first professional season anywhere.

"It is going to be difficult but there is a good atmosphere at the club just now.

"It is all about trying to enjoy as much as you can, daft as it may sound. Hopefully if we do that we will start winning games."

Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon: "Winning the derby can help, there's no doubt about that.

"We had one early in the season last year at Easter Road that ended in a draw. We played well and probably deserved to win it.

"It definitely gave the players an incentive and a good lift and we went on to enjoy a good run after that.

"You hope to get a lift when you win any game but it seems to be more so when you win a derby. It lifts everyone at the club.

"We've been trying to catch up with Hearts for a while but we did well last season. It's important that we build on that and try form some momentum."
