On the home front, Sarah and her kids live with Sarah's larger-than-life, headstrong father, Zeek (Craig T. Nelson), and pillar-of-strength mother Camille (Bonnie Bedelia), who are dealing with their own marital issues. Meanwhile, Sarah's sister and complete antithesis, Julia (Erika Christensen) is a successful corporate attorney trying to juggle work and motherhood, alongside her loving but increasingly restless stay-at-home husband, Joel (Sam Jaeger). Commitment-phobe Crosby (Dax Shepard), Sarah's younger brother, is helping raise a five-year-old son he had out of wedlock with former flame Jasmine (Joy Bryant). However, it's Adam (Peter Krause), the oldest Braverman sibling, who has had to relinquish his expectations about what constitutes a "normal" family, as he, his quietly forceful wife Kristina (Monica Potter) and independent-minded teenage daughter Haddie (Sarah Ramos), struggle to cope with their eccentric son and Haddie's little brother Max (Max Burkholder), who has Asperger's Syndrome. Although each sibling and family has its own share of everyday challenges to grapple with, they still manage to be there for each other in their hours of need.

The third season of the American television series Parenthood officially premiered on September 13, 2011. This season will consist of 18 episodes. Parenthood was renewed for an third season by NBC on May 12, 2011. This season of Parenthood is set to only have 16 episodes to make way for the new NBC drama Awake in mid-season. However, on September 29, 2011, NBC ordered two more episodes of Parenthood bringing this seasons total to 18 episodes. A family tree with Zeke (Craig T. Nelson) and Camille Braverman (Bonnie Bedelia), serving as the patriarch and matriarch. After forty six years of marriage, they've managed to keep their foundation intact by burying their problems underneath the surface for the sake of their, now adult, children. Adam (Peter Krause) is the first born and the ripest apple the tree has to offer. He runs a sneaker corporation, has a supportive wife, two children (boy and girl) and a beautiful home to share with them. He's a dog short of "The American Dream". Sarah (Lauren Graham), is the unstable daughter returning home at thirty-eight years of age with her rebellious daughter and sensitive son to live with Zeke and Camille. Crosby (Dax Shepard), is a happy-go-lucky bachelor living in the now, on a docked boat. He has no idea that his frivolous life is about to change tremendously. Episode Summary:
Kristina is rushed to the hospital by an unlikely accomplice, while Julia and Joel receive positive news on a possible addition to their family. Jasmine's choice of suitors begins to affect Crosby, while Sarah's ex, Seth, threatens to disrupt her relationship with Mark. Meanwhile, Amber begins to understand Max's mind and helps him mend his friendship with Jabbar.
