Season Info:
The Office is an American comedy television series broadcast by NBC. An adaptation of the BBC series of the same name, it depicts the everyday lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania, branch of the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company. To simulate the look of an actual documentary, it is filmed in a single-camera setup, without a studio audience or a laugh track. The Office was adapted for American audiences by executive producer Greg Daniels, a veteran writer for Saturday Night Live, King of the Hill, and The Simpsons. The creators of the original BBC series, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, are executive producers and also co-wrote the pilot episode with Daniels and wrote the season three episode, "The Convict". It is co-produced by Daniels' Deedle-Dee Productions, and Reveille Productions, in association with Universal Television. The show debuted on NBC as a midseason replacement on March 24, 2005.The eighth season premiered on September 22, 2011. James Spader reprises his role as Robert California, the new CEO of Sabre-Dunder Mifflin. Pam and Jim will be expecting their second child at the start of the season, to coincide with Jenna Fischer's real life pregnancy. Robert is hired as the regional branch manager of Scranton but within a day, becomes CEO of Sabre by talking Jo Bennett out of her job. Andy is then promoted to regional manager and works hard to make a good impression on Robert, and tasks Dwight to be his number two. When Robert creates a list, it puzzles the employees and it's eventually revealed that it's a list of whom he considers winners and losers, prompting Andy to stand up for the branch to Robert. Pam is pregnant with a second child while Angela is also pregnant with her fiancee's child. Robert orders Andy to double sales for the branch, which Andy eventually accomplishes by promising his employees to get a tattoo of their choice on his rear end. They elect to have Andy's nickname "The Nard Dog" emblazoned on his hind quarters. Darryl is also revealed to be dating his ex-wife, Justine. A remake of the hit 2001 BBC TV series The Office (2001), this is a mockumentary that documents the exploits of a paper supply company in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Made up of head chief Michael Scott, a harmlessly deluded and ignorantly insensitive boss who cares about the welfare of his employees while trying to put his own spin on company policy. With an office including the likes of various peers who have their own hangups, The Office (2005) takes a look at the lives of its co-workers: bored but talented salesman Jim, his mildly sociopathic, butt kissing enemy Dwight, mildly righteous receptionist Pam, and indifferent temp Ryan.
Episode Summary:
Andy decides to throw a garden party to impress Robert California. Dwight researches how to host a garden party and thinks he has made it a very classy event. Meanwhile, Andy's parents and brother attend but make him feel self-conscious.
