The one English language remake that kinda looks good has finally released its first theatrical trailer. David Fincher's The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remake starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara won't arrive in theaters until December 21st, though this full length trailer could generate excitement in the mean time.
In this newest film adaptation based on the best-selling novel by Stieg Larsson, Craig plays a disgraced journalist, Mikael Blomkvist who is hired by a retired industrialist (Christopher Plummer) to find a woman that's been missing for forty years. Talk about a cold case! Blomkvist is assisted by an odd computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Mara), and the unlikely duo uncover some deep, dark secrets by snooping around.
Fincher's film has all the makings of a solid mystery thriller, and after watching this trailer I actually want to see the movie now. I've been in an anti-remake funk as of late, though it appears Fincher and screenwriter Steven Zailian's (Moneyball, Schindler's List) version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a major upgrade.
