I'm speechless Well OK I'm not, I actually have a lot of angry words to say after watching the "Hellraiser 9: Revelations" trailer. But I was speechless at first. In fact, I was near to crying. I feel as though my Hellbound Heart has been torn from my chest and thrown into the paper shredder.
After seeing the two or three new cenobites in the trailer I wasn't feeling the same emotions of excitement as I had done when I first saw any of the new cenobites in the previous films. I was instantly asking myself so many questions.
Why's pinhead got baggy shoulder pads? Why's the female chatterer got no makeup on her arms? Why's the box got cheap cgi light? Why's the female actress so awful at acting? The camera quality is dreadful. I thought these guys had a budget from dimension?! The Hellraiser YouTube fanfilms are shot better!!! For Christ's sake.
I can't even do as I did with the new Pseudo Cenobites in Hellraiser: Hellworld and say "It was a good attempt" or say like I did about Hellraiser: Hellseeker "At least it has many nods to the original movie and continues the character's story competently". There's nothing positive I can say about it at all. I am struggling every so much to even like the shot of the two Cenobites walking through the iconic chains. Because the crappy new Pinhead does a silly, what I can only guess was the actor's attempt at looking threatening, slow head-nod to the side as he walked. Erm- have you ever seen a Hellraiser movie Mister actor? Did Doug Bradley (legend) EVER snarl and turn his head as he walked? NO! Next time you get an acting role; do a little research into the character. I'm not asking you to buy a book or even buy a film, but at least watch a clip on YouTube to try to emulate the previous actor's performance if you are taking on such an iconic role. It's not hard. In fact IT'S WHAT YOU ARE PAID FOR.
Ha-ha the "light saber lament", as it's now being referred to on Facebook, that blue neon glow looks awful. Why did they go for that look? Even in Hellraiser: Inferno they managed to achieve a passable effect by just adding a blurred white glow over the box, which hides any of the movement mechanisms and wires and also contributes to the "other worldly" effect. But a cartoony blue glow?! I found it pathetic.
