The show has run on BBC One since 15 May 2004, primarily on Saturday evenings. The eighth series ended on 18 December 2010. A further seven stand-alone Christmas Specials have also been produced, in consecutive years from 2004 to 2010. Six charity specials have also been produced. Since the fourth series, the show has also been aired in high definition on BBC HD and BBC One HD from series 8. Strictly Come Dancing (sometimes shortened to Strictly or SCD) is a British television show, featuring celebrities with professional dance partners competing in Ballroom and Latin dances. The title of the show suggests a continuation of the long-running series Come Dancing, with an allusion to the film Strictly Ballroom. The format has been exported to over 30 other countries (see Dancing with the Stars), and has also inspired a modern-dance themed spin-off Strictly Dance Fever. The ninth series of Strictly Come Dancing began on 10 September 2011 with a Launch Show, and the live shows started on 30 September and 1 October 2011. The show was broadcast from Wembley Arena on 19 November with all proceeds going to the BBC charity, Children in Need. The final will take place at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, will be the first episode in 3D, and will also be shown on BBC HD. As in Series 8 there are 14 couples with one new male professional, Pasha Kovalev, replacing Jared Murillo...
Episode Summary:
The remaining couples left in the competition perform live on stage once again. This week is Movie Night. After each couple have danced the judges give their verdicts on what they have seen and scores. At the end of the show the phone lines are opened for the ninth public vote of the series.
