Venkat Prabhu was in plans to create a multi-starrer movie like “Mankatha” from a very longtime. When Venkat narrated the Story, and as Ajith accepted to do this movie, he finalized the Story. But, even before finalizing this movie, Venkat Prabhu has narrated 3 different Stories to Ajith. But, Ajith preferred to do this Script, which has some grey shades in his Character.
As “Mankatha” is Thala’s 50th film, there are huge expectations over this film. This film basically deals about the Gambling activities. This does not deal with gambling in Cricket alone, but also, the Gambling in other Sports and in other forms. They have revealed the Secrets of Gambling in this movie.
The Lyrics of this movie are penned not only by Vaali, Gangai Amaran. But also by Niranjan Bharathi, the Grandson of the famous National Poet Subramaniya Bharathi.
The Audio Release of this movie is planned differently. They have planned to Release a Single Song alone in few days, which starts with the lines “Velayadu Mankatha…”. Drama Serial Summary:
The show’s main protagonist, Pratigya is her father- Shyamji Saxena’s pride. She is beautiful girl who loves helping her mother at home. She feels lucky that her family allowed her to complete her education unlike her other friends. After her schooling she was sent to Lucknow to complete her graduation only on one condition that she will have to return back to Allahabad and get married. She returns to Allahabad after completing her graduation and agrees to get engaged to a boy her family has selected for her. She is simple, cultured and traditionally rooted girl. She talks to everyone with lot of respect. She is a believer of non violence and firmly believes worst scenarios can be sorted by just talking to one another. She believes in helping people get their rights. Like her father she too believes that education is the key to happy life. Pratigya is very close to her mother and younger sister Arushi.

Drama Main Story:
Love stories happen when two people have the same feeling towards each other of liking, desire and passion. But this is a love story of two people who are together for all the wrong reasons. The story is based in a small town of Allahabad, where the smallest thing happening in one’s house is known to everyone. Women lead a very careful lifestyle because men are seen as superior to them by some people. Social rights for women are not valued as much in this town and are taken for granted. Most women are treated poorly, indeed. Education is not seen as a strong attribute for a women in society.
Such is not the story for the Saxena family. Though they have their values and tradition in place, they believe in educating their daughters without any hesitation. Pratigya and Aarushi consider themselves lucky to be born in this family, which in retrospect, they are. Their father has left no stones unturned to provide his daughters the same education as he has provided for his son, despite pressure from relatives and the rest of society. They are a closely knit family. Returning from her college to Allahabad, she slaps Angad(Kunal Kapoor) for misbehaving with her with ill motives. This starts the problems in her life which she is unaware of. Krishna saw her. When he is about to, he sees her face and admires her beauty. He falls in love with her at first sight and decides to marry her at any cost even his father sajjansingh refuses. Pratigya also goes out for shopping to meet her friends, unaware that Krishna has developed a liking for her. Later on, Pratigya and her family finds out Krishna is the Thakur's son, who is the richest and influential man in town. Despite her middle class background, he still respects Pratigya alot and never bore any ill feelings for her. Krishna is very arrogant and rude, like the rest of his family but he has a good heart. The way he is brought up by his family causes him to act aggressive towards others. Also, he carries a gun around because of which no one questions him. From the day he has seen Pratigya, his day and nights revolved around her existence. Krishna’s friends too have started considering Pratigya as their Bhabhi(sister-in-law) making sure that nobody troubles her.........

Drama Summary:
Gulaal is the story of a young girl (22 years) who is very lively and positive in life who hails from a village named Rashipur in Kutch. She has a unique gift of finding water in the dry lands of a desert. A neighbouring village Talsagra has been facing a long and harsh drought. Vasantji (from Talsagra) comes to know of Gulaal’s gift & takes up in his stride to find Gulaal and end the woes of his village once and for all. When Vasantji finds Gulaal, she decides, against the will of her entire village to go with him to Talsagrato benefit the village from her gift of finding water. Eventually their love blossoms and they get married. Gulaal becomes the one who ends the animosity of the two arch rival villages and brings colors of happiness to the lives of hundreds of people. She faces many obstacles in her life after this but faces them with confidence and by making intelligent choices.

Episode Summary:
Star Plus show ‘Gulaal’ is taking a major twist as Talli (Helly Shah) gets to know that Kesar (Neil Bhatt) doesn’t love her and as he starts ignoring her. The enraged Talli will now try to find out who Kesar actually loves and plans to look for some evidence in Kesar’s room.
Sources add, “Talli along with her friend tries to find out the reason behind this and enters Kesar’s room to look for some evidence. Meanwhile, Kesar enters his room and will be furious on seeing them in his room. He starts shouting at them but Talli’s friend interrupt and manages to somehow escape without getting into any trouble. On the other hand, Kesar also starts becoming over possessive about Gulaal and starts behaving like a husband towards her. Later, he will realize that he is in love with Gulaal. But Gulaal keeps on ignoring him as she also realizes that Kesar has started liking her.
Another development in the ‘Gulaal’ is that Dushyant will win the election and become the new head of the village.

Story Of The Show:

While these myriad characters weave the story of a more complex nature yet their simplicity makes the narrative appear simplistic and endearing. The proposed show, primarily a story about the search of identity and the pain of displacement of rural India, also discovers, on its way, the more sublime issues of everyday life in a village be it water crisis, the agricultural patents, the electricity and health facilities, the status of women in rural India, the issues of infertility, caste, feudalism, gender exploitation and yet retains the simplicity and charm of rural India so much so that one can’t help but fall in love with its characters.

Kokilaben’s husband Parag is a good for nothing loser and the reason Kokilaben has been so strict with Aham’s upbringing is that she didn’t want her son to become like his father.Koki also feels that if her husband would have done well she would have got more importance in the family. Hetal’s son Jigar on the other hand is sweet and simple like his mother and father Chirag and wishes good for everybody. Jigar is not as ambitious as Aham and work under Ahem.
Baa is a sweet MIL of hetal and koki whom everyone loves and respects but koki never listens to her and does what she wants.
The story begins with Kokilaben’s search for the perfect bahu for her son Aham. She wants a simple and docile girl she can rule over and search ends with Gopi.
Gopi’s cousin Rashi too manipulates her way into the house and marries Jigar, her only motive being rule the simple MIL Hetal and husband Jigar…Gopi being Gopi has no clue what awaits her in her sasural. What will happen when Gopi and Rashi enter their Sasural.

Khushi’s relationships are the most important to her, whereas Arnav believes all people come with a price and can be manipulated for one’s benefit. Khushi, an 18 year old from UP, is simple, rooted in family and is driven by a clear moral compass. She stands for what she believes in, and never lets go of her inculcated values. She will not change herself to conform to people’s shallow expectations. In stark contrast, Arnav is a 28 year old self made, ruthless, ‘win at all costs’ man who believes everything can be bought in the world, including love. The pair has sung an out and out romantic song Athu varai Naan Vazhntha Vaazhkai for the movie Sagaakal. Music Director Dhayaratnam has scored music for this song. Celebrities galore at Rowthiram audio launch

Jeeva and Shreya Saran starrer upcoming Tamil film Rowthiram audio was launched last evening at a star hotel. Top celebrities of the Kollywood were present at the grand event.
Tamil Nadu Producers Council President SA Chandrasekhar, directors KS Ravikumar, Lingusamy, Rajesh, Vetrimaran, actors Aarya, Jayam Ravi, Nasser, Jayaprakash along with lead actors of Rowthiram Jeeva and Shreya Saran were spotted at the audio launch.
Along with the music release, two trailers and a few songs were screened for the guests and the media. The video clippings grabbed the attention of the viewers and received positive responses from the invitees.
The audio of the film is composed by Prakash Nikki and it has five songs.Thamarai, Gokul, Lalitha Anand and Subramanya Bharathi have penned the lyrics.
Rowthiram is directed by newcomer Gokul and produced by RB Choudhary on the banner Super Good Films. The movie is expected to hit the screens on August 12.

ATM Telugu Movie Review:
Azhagiya Thamizh Magan, if you are a Vijay fan, you are bound to love it. If you are someone who throws logical sense out of the window before entering the theatre, chances are that you might like it. If you are someone who appreciates quality film making, you will hate it. Now to the review…
First thing first, Vijay, newly christened “Iniya, Idhaya, Illaya Thalapathy”, is magical. He is power packed, style personified and ruthlessly elegant. The ease and grace with which he carries himself is something that needs to be seen on the silver screen. Perhaps, perhaps, he could have chosen a better platform.

Coming to the story, if there is one, is about Guru(Vijay) who is an athlete, meets Shriya, falls in love and to everyone’s surprise (the only non cinematic twist in the movie) both their parents give the green signal. Vijay suddenly acquires powers to prophesy the future, with most of his predictions coming true. After seeing a disturbing visual, Vijay decides to get away from Shriya and goes to Mumbai. In comes a mean money lender, Prasad, whose only aim in life is money, played by Vijay again. All hell breaks loose when Prasad decides to act as Guru and marry the rich Shriya. The rest of the story is how the good Vijay saves Shriya from the evil Vijay. Truly unstoppable with villainy, Vijay generates expectations and buzz with the introduction of the second role, only to be lost towards the end, courtesy the screenplay.

The main drawback of the movie is that it tends to follow a predictable path, one taken by zillions of masala movies before. Predict a fight, it is there, wish a song, it is there too, by the end of the movie, we tend to be a bit confused if we were also blessed with the ability to foresee the future. The first half is long, slow and clichéd.
Shriya has a good role and she has done a decent job and looks angelic. Santhanam does his part. Sayaji Shinde and Ashish Vidyarthi suffer from improper characterization. Namitha for a song and a few scenes, is a living proof of the dozing censor board, as the movie’s U certificate is cruel to say the least.

Director Barathan, who had the rising Superstar of Kollywood as his hero, Shriya, arguably the number one heroine in Tamil, fresh off Sivaji, A.R.Rahman for music and Appachan as the producer has let down a lifetime opportunity. Camera work by Balasubramaniam is excellent. All the songs have been choreographed artistically with top notch visuals. Lawrence needs special mention, as Vijay’s moves and shakes are sure to become a rage, especially the “Munnal vada” and “Ponmagal Vandal” numbers. A.R.Rahman as usual dazzles. The Visual effects are a bit tacky in some places, but overall a nice attempt. The effects for the last chase sequence is better left not discussed. The editor hasn’t impressed with a dragging first half. Only if a few scenes had been cut out, the movie would have been better. The stunts are over the top, the laws of gravity seem to not apply to the hero, though the fight between the two Vijays does stand out.

Mark Telugu Movie Review:
This film ‘Mark’ed the directorial debut of fight master Vijayan and acting debut of his son Sabareesh. Srihari played the antagonist in this Tamil to Telugu dubbed movie. Here is the review of this Mark.

Story:
A milk vendor Vithal (Srihari) adopts so many orphan kids and raises them to be rowdies. Markandeya alias Mark (Sabareesh) is one of them. Mark falls in love with Divya (Pinky) and starts to get away from all the bad deeds. This doesn’t impress Vithal and while he is looking to separate the love pair, Vithal gets a deal from Divya’s father to kill her. Vithal makes Mark to kill Divya and in turn he avenges her death. Then the tug of war between them starts and who wins over who sums up the story.
Analysis:
Fight master turned director Vijayan didn’t have a solid script on his hands. There is no completeness in the story. Vijayan tried to add bits and pieces together to make a feature film. Screenplay of the film is awful. Direction is aimless. Sadly, Vijayan didn’t even excel in the action department. All the fights are a compilation of Vijayan’s successful action episodes. Logic goes for a toss in this film. Mark is not up to the mark in all the departments.
Performances:
Sabareesh failed as an actor and also a fighter. He doesn’t have ease and flexible body language to carry a film on his shoulders. Srihari too looked like as if he is sleepwalking. He did this film out of gratitude and the lack of interest in him is visible in every frame. Pinky is Okay. Santhanam pulled off few cracks in the first hour. There is nothing to say about rest of the star cast.
Technicalities:
None of the technical departments came up with a reasonable job. This is a fine example of how not to make a film.
Final Word: Not up to the ‘Mark’
Box office verdict: Mark is a non starter at the box office and it won’t survive for at least a week

After the super hit 100% Love, Naga Chaitanya is back with the mega budget film Dhada. Naga Chaitanya has attempted an image makeover as a angry young man whose name evokes fear among the antagonists. Pretty and vivacious Kajal Aggarwal plays the female lead while Tamil actor Srikanth and Samiksha play important roles.
According to reports, London model and Bollywood actress Aruna Shields has been roped in for an item number in Dhada. The film is produced by Siva Prasad Reddy from Kamakshi Entertainments and directed by Ajay Bhuyan.
Dhada was primarily shot in USA but certain schedules were shot in India, Thailand, Milan and Europe as well. The music is composed by Devi Sri Prasad, Gnana Shekar of Vedam fame handles the cinematography and editing is by Dharmendra. International fight master Pradit Siluyem from Thailand has composed the action sequences for the film.
While Dhada was being filmed, rumours of a tiff between the lead pair began circulating. Reportedly, when their verbal brawl spiraled out of control, Kajal almost slapped Naga Chaitanya before the unit members intervened! But the producer has rubbished these reports.
A grand audio release function was held for Dhada on July 25th. Kajal Aggarwal was conspicuous by her absence and it is rumoured that she chose to skip the event because of her recent spat with Naga Chaitanya.
According to producer D. Sivaprasad Reddy, the shooting for Dhada went on for 145 days. Speaking about the film, the producer said: “The movie is now in post-production work. Chaitanya looks very stylish in a mass role. It is an action packed film with loads of entertainment.”
This romantic-action film is scheduled for release on August 12, 2011.

I was fortunate enough to see this at a film fest and have to say it was definitely the best movie I saw! The storyline keeps you on the edge of your seat, and at the end I just kept thinking "Please don't be over, please don't be over". . . I felt so connected to the story I didn't want it to end.
Jessica Chastain may not currently be a recognizable name, but my assessment is that she will be soon. Her performance was captivating. Her scenes in the Doctor's office chilled me to the bone! Adding the indisputable talent of her counterpart Helen Mirren into the mix is the perfect cocktail. Definitely a girls kick a** experience! The Debt weaves together many layers, (as any movie worth watching should do!). Action, suspense, romance, beauty and conflict - a movie I'll be dragging all my girlfriends to.

In 1964, Ken Kesey, the famed author of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," set off on a legendary, LSD-fuelled cross-country road trip to the New York World's Fair. He was joined by "The Merry Band of Pranksters," a renegade group of counterculture truth-seekers, including Neal Cassady, the American icon immortalized in Kerouac's "On the Road," and the driver and painter of the psychedelic Magic Bus. Kesey and the Pranksters intended to make a documentary about their trip, shooting footage on 16MM, but the film was never finished and the footage has remained virtually unseen. With MAGIC TRIP, Academy Award-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side) and co-director Alison Ellwood were given unprecedented access to this raw footage by the Kesey family. The Story:
Meet Samuel, Jeffrey and Michael Douglas! Their grandfather, Mori Tanaka, is highly skilled in the fields of Martial Arts and Ninjitsu. And for years he's been training these boys this technique. He even gave them names: Rocky because he's "solid and cool as granite rock"; Colt, because he's "fast and free, a spirit of a young wild horse"; and Tum Tum because ambition begins and ends with his tummy". But one day, an old "friend" of Grandpa's, Hugo Snyder, is heard from again. He's being hassled by the FBI, and the boys' father happens to be an FBI officer. So Snyder figures if he kidnaps the father's kids, it will ease the tension, none of his own men are suitable for the task, so he hires three dim and incredibly incompetent surfers to do the deed. The boys treat them to a night of Ninja moves and hilarious gags, ala Home Alone. But the boys soon get captured by Snyder, and what is more, they (especially Colt) becomes doubtful of their grandfather, until Grandpa bursts into action and fights Snyder.

Amazing movie, visually stunning...

Just got out of the screening of this movie at the Independent Film Fest of Boston. Bellflower is a visually stunning movie and is sure to make help make the career of the star/director and a few other members of the supporting cast.
The basic premise is that two friends decide to future-proof themselves by creating weaponry designed for ruling a potential post-apocalyptic wasteland. They figure that if Mad Max has taught us anything it is that whoever has the most badass weapons will end up on top.
Evan Glodell, Jessie Wiseman, Tyler Dawson and Rebekah Brandes turn in impressive performances. I am sure that we will be seeing plenty of Jessie Wiseman.
The film was shot on handmade cameras that the director built which allowed him to create amazing tilt-shift visuals. All of the gadgets featured in the film were also built by the director for the movie. Filming happened over the course of 3 years on a meager budget of only $17,000, an amazing feat.
If this movie is playing at a local festival you need to go see it ASAP. I'm pretty sure that there will be plenty of buzz surrounding the film once it gets a wider release.
