A third series was officially confirmed. A Christmas special, written by Howard Overman, featuring the whole main cast of the first series was broadcast on E4 in December 2010. The first series won the 2010 BAFTA Television Award for Best Drama Series. On 10 April 2011, it was announced that actor Robert Sheehan would not be returning for the third series. A short entitled "Vegas Baby", released online in September 2011, covered the departure of Sheehan's character, Nathan. An extended trailer for the new third series was shown after the short. The third series started on October 30, 2011. Misfits follows five early-20s delinquents on community service in Wertham (a fictional borough in London), who are caught outside during an electrical thunder storm and hail the size of bowling balls, and who acquire special powers. Kelly (Lauren Socha) gains the ability to hear the thoughts of others, Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) can rewind time after experiencing an immense sense of regret, Alisha (Antonia Thomas) sends people into a sexual frenzy when they touch her skin, Simon (Iwan Rheon) can become invisible, and Nathan (Robert Sheehan) at first demonstrates no power, but at the very end of the first series it is discovered that he is immortal, Nathan, Kelly, Simon, Alisha and Curtis were expecting their community service to be boring....
Season Summary:
Misfits follows five outsiders on community service who get struck by a flash storm and lumbered with special powers. Hard as nails Kelly (Lauren Socha) can suddenly hear people’s thoughts, shamed sporting hero Curtis (Nathan Stewart Jarrett) discovers he has the ability to turn back time when he regrets something, and party girl Alisha (Antonia Thomas) can send people into a sexual frenzy when they touch her skin. Even painfully shy Simon (Iwan Rheon) can make himself invisible when he feels he’s being ignored, which makes it all the more hard to swallow for smart Aleck Nathan (Robert Sheehan), who seems to have been unaffected, much to his dismay. Unlike their more conventional counterparts, our misfits don’t swap their ankle tags and mobile phones for capes and tights. Instead, they discover what a pain in the arse life can be when you’re stuck with a super power you didn’t want.
Episode Summary:
After Seth discovers a resurrection super power he ends up using it to bring his dead ex-girlfriend, Shannon back to life. After Shannon develops a taste for blood, Seth realises that his new power has unexpected consequences.
