"Merlin" is a new drama series that updates the story of the infamous sorcerer of Arthurian legend for a new audience. The mythical city of Camelot, in a time before history began; a fantastical realm of legendary beasts and mysterious people; a dangerous world in which magic has been banned by the ruthless tyrant, Uther Pendragon. When Merlin, a young man gifted with extraordinary magical powers, arrives in the kingdom, he quickly makes enemies including the heir to Uther's crown, the headstrong Prince Arthur. But guided by Uther's wise physician Gaius, Merlin is soon using his talents not just to survive but also to unlock Camelot's mystical secrets. As he does so he discovers that his destiny and that of the kingdom's young leader in waiting, Arthur, are inextricably linked.
Storyline:
Young Merlin is a teenager, discovering and then learning to master his magical gift. Magister Gaius, King Uther Pendragon's learned court physician to whom he's assigned as humble page, teaches him medicine, coaches his magical self-study, and warns him of Uther's strong aversion to magic. Merlin becomes squire to the noble but imprudent crown prince, Arthur, whose fate is linked with Merlin.
Episode Summary:
After Morgana and Helios' successful alliance, Camelot is once again in the sorceress' hands while Arthur and Merlin become outlaws on the run. They find themselves in a desperate situation, trapped in Ealdor and with a ruthless army closing in. Arthur must assume control before Camelot is lost forever but his conviction is lost in the face of Agravaine's betrayal and the strength of Morgana's force. Once again, it comes down to Merlin to restore Arthur's faith with an extraordinary act that will prove to the King that he was born to rule. Will the young warlock be able to convince Arthur before all dreams of Albion fall to pieces?
